WHAT ARE BARIATRIC SURGERY APPLICATIONS?

  • Gastric Sleeve Surgery (Sleeve Gastrectomy)

Gastric sleeve surgery is an operation performed by removing approximately 75-80% of the entire stomach. The application got this name because the shape of the remaining stomach after the operation resembles a sleeve. The fact that patients do not return to their former appetites after surgery is a serious advantage that increases success.

Gastric sleeve surgery will not just help you lose weight. It also cures many chronic diseases. It is particularly effective on diabetes and hypertension.

  • Gastric Bypass (Roux-en-y gastric bypass)

It is the process of bypassing a large part of the stomach so that a very small part just after the esophagus is left behind. In this application, the small intestine is brought to the stomach and sutured there. Therefore, both the stomach volume is reduced and a part of the intestines is disabled. With this method, especially the blood sugar control of insulin-dependent diabetics is regulated more effectively.

  • Gastroplication

Gastroplication is based on the principle of reducing the stomach with stitches without making an incision in order to restrict food intake. Stomach volume is reduced by 75% on average.

Gastric folding surgery is performed laparoscopically. The operation takes about 40 minutes on average.

NON-SURGICAL GASTRIC BALLOON AND GASTRIC BOTOX APPLICATIONS

Gastric Balloon

Gastric balloon is not a surgical procedure. It is an inflatable medical material made of silicone. The process of endoscopically placing and inflating this balloon into the stomach is called the gastric balloon technique. With this method, it is aimed to create a feeling of satiety by creating fullness in the stomach. After six months, the balloon can be easily removed from the stomach. The application takes about 20 minutes. It is not a surgical procedure and is often applied to patients who do not consider a surgical operation.

Gastric Botox

It is a procedure based on the endoscopic injection of Botulinum toxin into certain parts of the stomach. It is not a surgical procedure and can be applied to anyone who wants to lose weight. However, in order for the procedure to be carried out, certain conditions must be met.

  • It can be applied if the person cannot lose weight despite dieting and exercising.
  • It is not recommended for people with a body mass index over 40.
  • In patients with stomach ulcers or gastritis, gastric botox can be applied after the appropriate treatment of these diseases.

In addition to the blood sugar, cholesterol and triglyceride levels of the patients after metabolic surgery, problems such as hypertension, fatty liver, eye-kidney damage and foot scars are also eliminated with a single operation.
